I'm not interested it seeing my ugly mug looking back at me during loading screens. Sure they look better, but i'm a gamer not a content creator. I am sure there is room for improvement there. I don't have a calibration unit so I've eyeballed it to my liking.
I do miss the deeper blacks of my old VA panel, but this is still an upgrade. I tried to get the Dell u3011 but the one I received was broken and had to be sent back. In the Bee and the Barb in Riften I drop to 15 fps, but there's something going on there that I haven't pinpointed yet. With Anti-aliasing off (not even noticable unless you're actively looking for it) i get a solid 55 fps with dips down to 45. Except skyrim with 4k textures and a very heavy ENB. A GTX 980 with the games I play peg the needle at 60fps. I figured it a good price to dip my toes into the 1440p world and see how my GPU holds up. That's $250 for a 27 inch 1440p IPS display.

Pros: Price - I picked this puppy up for $300 plus a $50 mail in rebate. Overall Review: I have a 27 inch QHD270 Crossover IPS monitor, and though I like the pic and semi-glossy coating on my crossover more, the scaler, OSD settings and adjustments, connectivity and 3 year warranty make this ACER a MUCH better deal imo. Either way, Displayport and DVI are better and sharper IMO. Also, can't seem to get 2560x1440 via HDMI, I will look into it, but I believe that you need HDMI 2.0 in order to get higher resolutions, or maybe Acer limits this like Dell does. After you calibrate and dial some stuff down, I believe it won't be an issue. Overall it is a much better choice over Korean monitors.Ĭons: s always there.but it was only really noticeable at 100% backlight. The monitor also has a wide array of OSD settings for picture adjustment. Also, multiple inputs, didn't notice any lag or ghosting, but I'm not as picky as most.
AMVA panels are pretty good compared to IPS. It was still crisp and the colors were fairly accurate.

Pros: First thing that impressed me was the scaler for 1080p.PS3 at 1080p looked fantastic. With the shell shocker price It deserves 5 eggs. Overall though, the panel itself is excellent which is what it's all about in the end. I just recapped my Acer AL2423W monitor about 6 months ago due to all the popped capacitors on the power board causing the monitor not to power on. I only buy Acer monitors, but they tend to use low quality capacitors. Overall Review: Longevity is my only concern. The only way I can get it to wobble is physically push it with my hand.

Wobble is non existent as long as you install it on a firm surface. The stand doesn't match the quality of the panel by a long shot. You would think after all these years of putting speakers in monitors that they would do 1 of 2 things install good sounding speakers (companies do this with cell phones) or just leave them completely out and save. I set the brightness at 80% for now and may tweak it as the days go buy.Ĭons: Speakers are poor at best. The monitor came up at the max 2560x1440 resolution and 100% brightness. Easy setup, attached supplied display port cable to my Asus R9 290 card and started the computer. Sharp as a tack and minimal light bleed that is of no concern. Pros: Absolutely gorgeous screen and colors, brightness and contrast.
